Estação de São Bento
The station of São Bento is a traditional station, situated to the Praça Almeida Garrett. Inaugurated in 1916, it is one of the main stations of Portugal. It is also one of the most beautiful!
Go to the reception hall where you can see very big frescoes of Azulejos redrawing the history of Portugal, among which the battle of Valdevez (1140) and the arrival of king John I and Philippa de Lancaster to Porto (1387). Drawn between 1905 and 1916, these are Jorge Colaço's work, painter of the most important azulejo of time.
