Pont Dom louis




The Dom Luís I Bridge is a double-deck metal arch bridge that spans the River Douro between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. For the story, it built between 1881 and 1886 by the engineer Théophile Seyrig, a disciple of Gustave Eiffel.


It is 395 meters long, 8 meters wide and weighs 3045 tons. Its arc is considered as one of the biggest arcs to the world made steel. The building is absolutely magnificent. It is an major in Porto!


The upper level is of use to the line D of the subway of Porto. And the lower level serves for the passage of cars. It is necessary to know that the pedestrians have access to both levels.
